These Olive wood salad serving sets are carved by hand in Kenya and decorated with batik bone handles.

Carving is a tradition in Kenya which has been handed down for generations. While wood carving provides the major income for many in the Machakos area, other craftspeople earn a living by further enhancing the products with a "batiked" design. The artisans use wax and dye to create the stylish patterns you see here.

Bone for the handles is ethically sourced, making use of a material that would otherwise be thrown away.
